I discovered the magic of silver clay in 2019 and was hooked. At first I made a few pieces for myself and then for friends and family as gifts. In the midst of the pandemic, I decided to take the plunge and start my own business, Pinch of Silver in Switzerland.

I then embarked on the PMC certificate courses with Helen Drye and Julie Holt and spent a year improving my skills with silver clay and challenging my creativity. A move to the UK was afoot and with it a name change in honour of my grandmothers. Lily Mae Studios was born.

Working out of a small studio in Oxfordshire I have started to use some traditional silversmithing methods in addition to my silver clay work. It’s not hard to get inspiration for new pieces when I’m out walking.

As my own working space is small I run my silver clay workshops in larger venues across Oxfordshire (Berkshire and Gloucestershire too at times !). I love enabling others to enjoy the magic of this material and create unique pieces to wear or gift.

In an effort to bring colour into my work I have attended workshops to learn enamelling on copper and at a recent fantastic intermediate workshop by @elizabethjanejewellery I have brought my skills to a different level and look forward to organising my ideas and brings my designs to life. You will see more of these pieces on my website and in my exhibitions in 2026. Some of the colour will no doubt show up in my new silver work too. @lynnemoarenamels is up and running :)
