How it all began and now…

A picky occasional jewellery wearer who discovered the magic of silver clay and was hooked. At first I made a few pieces for myself and then for friends and family as gifts. In the midst of the pandemic, I decided to take the plunge and start my own business. I set up my first online shop with Etsy and Pinch of Silver Design was born. Selling online, and in person when the restrictions lifted, I had a very successful but mad first Christmas.

I then embarked on the PMC certificate courses with Helen Drye and Julie Holt and spent a year improving my skills with silver clay and challenging my creativity. A move to the UK was afoot and with it a name change in honour of my grandmothers. Lily Mae Studios was born.

Working out of a small studio in Oxfordshire I have started to use some traditional silversmithing methods in addition to my silver clay work. It’s not hard to get inspiration for new pieces when I’m out walking.

As my own working space is small I run my silver clay workshops in larger venues across Oxfordshire (Berkshire and Gloucestershire too at times !). I love enabling others to enjoy the magic of this material and create unique pieces to wear or gift.

Recently I attended a workshop on enamelling on copper and once again caught the bug. You will see more of these pieces on my website and in my exhibitions in 2026. Some of the colour will no doubt show up in my new silver work too.

I hope you find something that inspires you. Lynne x
