Weekly Silver Clay workshop (5 x 2.5hrs) at Ayres House, Wallingford
£165.00

Join me for a weekly Silver Clay workshop where you will explore a range of techniques while working on your own project.

Suitable for beginners or those who have attended an introductory workshop or followed basic online classes and want to benefit from an in-person workshop with small class numbers.

I will demonstrate a new technique each week and this may vary depending on the group needs.

A 7g pack of Art Clay Silver .999 is included in the price.

Any further metal clay, findings and supplies can be purchased as required.

Techniques may include: using textures, finishing and polishing, making and using silicon moulds, basic soldering for jump rings and/or stud earrings, making lentil beads, enamelling, incorporating sea glass or ceramics, fusing gold using Keum Boo, fireable stone setting, making silver clay paste leaves, making bails, using scratch foam for original designs.

TUESDAYS

13:30 - 16:00

6th, 13th and 20th October and 3rd and 10th November 2026

Notes:

Parking is limited outside Ayres House. Alternative long stay parking can be found just behind The Cross Keys pub (on St Georges Rd) and a little further away on Goldsmith’s Lane (both paying). Please leave enough time to park safely.

Please bring a small lidded container with you filled with uncooked rice. This will act as a safe carrier to transport unfinished pieces back and forth. Some pieces may require kiln firing outside workshop hours so I will also need these to transport the piece safely to my studio to fire.

Coffee, tea, water and biscuits will be available. Please feel free to bring your own refreshments.

In the first session I will demonstrate the basic handling of silver clay and we will spend some time designing our pieces before we begin making. I will bring along basic tool kits, texture mat selection, cutter selection and embeddables and findings. Also a selection of fireable nanogems and dichroic cabochons and additional packets of Art Clay Silver .999. All materials (except the initial 7g ACS.999 clay) are charged at a price which covers my postage but passes on any discount I receive from the supplier.

Please dress appropriately for working with silver clay or bring an apron to protect your clothing from any paste or dust. If you are susceptible to dust please bring your own dust mask. Please bring any corrective glasses you may need for detailed work. Please bring a hair tie for soldering or torch firing.

CANCELLATION up to 4 weeks before first session.

It is not partially refundable at any point in time due to non attendance at one or more of the sessions.

New Brewery Arts, Cirencester

I have been invited to run a silver clay workshop at the brilliant arts and crafts hub at New Brewery Arts, Cirencester. The Intorductory/Taster workshop here is aimed at those with no (or very little) experience of using silver clay. Look out for my next workshop on 17 October 2026. I will add a link here when it is live.
